Tip 1: Make sure you complete your profile

Tip 2: Great copy is short and easy to read

When copywriting, keep it short and simple; otherwise known as the K.I.S.S. rule. Make sure your texts are free from filler sentences, or that they are not too passive. Write interesting, short and clear texts without unnecessary phrases or flowery speech. Always observe the tone and write to your target group. Use active verbs. If  you want to use a literary style, go ahead, but please, no double negatives or flat phrases like “in times like these”, “in order to” or “it would seem to me”.

Tip 3: Entice the reader with exciting headings

Do you want to master the art of seduction? While copywriting often involves a routine subject matter, you should capture your readers’ attention though appropriate headings. Generally, the consumer decides upon reading the header if the text will be interesting. It should convey a clear and concise message of what the text is about, and, at the same time, arouse the reader’s curiosity. They are of major significance, reducing the whole of the message down to a few simple words.

Tip 4: How do you HTML?

There are many copywriting software tools like word processors, editors, analysers and others that can help guide you. An old fashioned dictionary and thesaurus help you to improve your copywriting, and today you can get everything free online.

Tip 6: Distinguish between types of text and how to write them

The demands on the development of great copywriting are very different, depending on the type of text. What differs, say, between a category description and a blog post? The description needs to be technically informative, short and may contain a call to action, while the blog post needs to be longer, informative and entertaining. Knowing how to set up and write different types of texts will help you save time and effort in the long run.

Tip 7: Research sufficiently and efficiently

Experienced authors know that good research is half the success. To enrich a blog post with many informative details is much more satisfactory and in the end easier to write, than it is to struggle aimlessly to fill the word-count. But beware: Paraphrasing from only one source is considered plagiarism. Make sure you have a couple reliable sources!

Tip 8: Understand the customer

Among the best tips we can give to deliver successful copy is to understand the needs of the client.  Marketing texts are all about communication, so it is crucial to not only communicate with the consumers, but also with the client for whom you are writing.

Tip 9: Know your punctuation

Being free of error is the fundamental assumption of a successful text. Spelling goes without saying, but it is also necessary to respect the rules of punctuation, such as commas, full stops, colons, semi-colons, dashes and the like. Tip 10: Avoid the easiest and most common mistakes

Many mistakes can be avoided with a spell checker, but some cases remain hidden to even the best copywriters. Classic errors occur, for example in the capitalisation of proper nouns, then and than, its and it’s, your and you’re, where and were, who’s and whose, who (subject) and whom (object), and finally their, they’re and there. Plus, congruency is important, where singular subjects get matched up with singular verbs, plural with plural, you know what we mean.
