How To Use the Author Search
Are you looking for tech-savvy authors or writers with industry-specific knowledge? If so, use Textbroker’s author search feature to find the most suitable writers for your projects. To access the author search feature, you will first need to sign up for a client account. If you already have an account, then log in with your credentials. In your client account, you can find the author search function under “Authors → Find Authors”.
Three easy steps…
Follow these steps to begin your search:
- Type the relevant keyword phrase into the search field, such as “web development” or “network technology”, to find authors with experience in specific topics. This is particularly helpful if you’re looking for niche expertise.
- Though not required, you can change the default drop-down search menu from “Search in profiles” to “Search for nickname” or “Search in notes”.
- Finally, hit enter on your keyboard or click on the search icon (magnifying glass). Then, scroll down after the results load to view all of the available authors who meet your criteria.
Refine via the search filters
In the author search interface, you’ll find various filters to narrow your search: Quality level, Category, Education and degrees, Type of writing, and Industry experience. You can use these filters to refine your search, enabling you to quickly and efficiently search through thousands of profiles. After performing a search, you can browse through and click on an author’s name to access their profile. Here, you can view their hobbies, areas of expertise and writing samples.
5 Tips for Finding the Right Authors
The Textbroker platform is home to several thousand registered authors. Though finding the right author for a specific project might seem daunting, the process couldn’t be more simple! Using our search function is the most effective way to find the perfect author, even for very specific or highly technical topics.
1. What the stars say
All Textbroker authors have a star rating (quality level). This rating is based on the quality of work that the writer has already completed (articles that have been accepted by clients and reviewed by the Textbroker UK team). A two-star rating is the lowest quality level, and a five-star rating is the highest.
2. Discover the talent
Don’t forget the two- and three-star writers! Many authors who are newly registered or who have not produced much work for Textbroker may be more than fully qualified to produce the articles you need but don’t yet have the Textbroker star to prove it. Each writer does have a profile, though, and it certainly pays to take a few minutes to check if your writer has the qualifications you need. As you review the profiles, consider creating a list of authors who seem like a good fit for your projects. You can add them to your “Favourite Authors” by clicking the heart icon on their profile. Additionally, you’ll find an envelope icon on all writers’ profiles. When you click on this, you can send the writer a message to double-check their qualifications and interest in your project.
3. Teaming up right
Using the TeamOrders option is a great way to get qualified writers interested in your projects. With teams, you can pick and choose which writers actually have access to your orders, and you can also adjust the team settings so that writers can apply. You can decide whether or not you require an application text from authors. This way, you can assess the author’s writing skills and expertise before you let them join your team. Also, you can enter conditions for joining a team. If an author wants to write for your team, they must meet and accept those conditions you’ve set. A team about travelling, for instance, can require that an author must have visited or lived in the country in question.
4. Public teams
One suggestion is to make your team public and then ask that writers submit an application before being able to join. This is a great way to get only interested writers geared up to work on your projects. The best bit about TeamOrders is that you’re in complete control. You’ll know who it is that’s working on your orders, and you can even get in touch with all the writers all in one go. Best of all, you also get to determine the price! This way, you can really make sure that the writers are financially encouraged to do the research you need them to do and that they genuinely put in the extra time and effort required to finish your orders.
5. Recently active?
The “recently active” option increases your odds of finding an author who is readily available to work for you. This search filter is the real key to making the most of the author search! There’s a little tick box you can click when performing a search, which ensures you’ll only be shown writers who have been recently active on the site. Unless you want to sort through hundreds of profiles, don’t forget to select this box!
However, keep in mind that this filter may remove qualified authors who are willing and able to work on your project. Many freelance authors, for example, may only write for our clients during school breaks or in between their other projects. So, if you need more authors than what your filtered search turned up, then untick this option and have another look.
